How to use MT4/MT5. FBS tutorial
Let’s get to know the interface of MetaTrader 4.
In this video, we’ll show you the main useful buttons and features.
You may change the language by pressing View – Language.
At the top, there’s the main menu, where all commands and functions are represented.
Below you will see 4 toolbars, which are built into MT4: “Standard”, “Charts”, “Line Studies”, and “Timeframes”.
The toolbars duplicate the main commands used in the terminal in form of buttons.
This allows fast access to different functions like opening a new chart or changing its type.
You can make the toolbars shown or hidden by pressing View – Toolbars.
You can also customize each toolbar and leave only the buttons you like.
To the left from the chart window, there is a Market Watch tool.
It contains the list of the instruments you can trade on this account and their quotes.
If you don’t see the currency pair you need, right-click at the window and press “Show All”.
You’ll see all trade instruments provided by the broker.
To open a new chart of a currency pair, right-click this pair in the “Market Watch” window and choose “Chart Window”.
Another way to is to left-click the pair in the “Market Watch” window and then drag it to the chart window without releasing the click.
You can also press File – New Chart or click on the special icon in the toolbar.
All your open accounts, indicators, and advisors are collected in the “Navigator” window.
Double-click on the account you want to open, and a login window will pop up.
Double-click on the indicator you want to add to the chart (or right-click and choose “Attach to a chart”).
A window with indicator’s settings will appear.
You may start with default parameters and just click “OK”.
At the bottom of the screen, you can see the “Terminal” panel.
It shows the amount of money you have on your account and how much money is currently used in your trades.
You can also modify your positions and review your trade history here.
You can hide Market Watch, Navigator and Terminal windows by clicking on their cross icons.
You can also manage these windows in the “View” tab of the main menu.
In the next video, we’ll explain the basics about the chart window and work with a price chart.
